With reference to your Official letter No 82 of the 26th of May and to your Private note of the 6th Instant, I am directed by His Excellency the Governor to inform you, that in the event of your being called upon, in consequence of your Regiment having gone home, to refund Indian Allowances, which you received up to the end of June; Your Civil Salary will commence on the day on which the Retrenchment is made to apply; but that until His Excellency is officially apprized of such Retrenchment having been actually made, no orders can be issued on the subject.
